Beaver Creek, Virtual Reality, & 2019!

January 4, 2019

Happy New Years from the Maverick VR Team! We got to spend the NYE with the folks at Beaver Creek Resort, who partnered with us to bring some awesome winter and winter -sport themed VR booths (VR skiing, Tilt Brush in the snow, etc.) to their New Years Eve party . We had a great time and we were even able to hit the slopes and enjoy the fresh Colorado air!

Considering it's the first few days of 2019, we wanted to discuss some exciting planned and projected advancements in virtual reality applications, VR booths and virtual reality headsets:

Eye Tracking

One of the most exciting advancements in VR hardware that we are eager to see in 2019, is headsets ability to detect eye movement. Through proper eye-tracking, VR headset will be able to utilize "foveated rendering", which allows for more efficient deliverable of visuals to our eyes. Eye-tracking will allow for more nuanced and complex interactions with virtual objects. we expect this to revolutionize the current hardware and will allow for an even more immersive, virtual reality experience.

Reverse Tracking

Reverse tracking is the way in which onboard cameras can see the space around itself, which allows these cameras to  identify specific positions within a particulate space. Currently, VR headset rely on lasers being projected by base stations. In the next year, we're looking forward to VR headsets to utilize reverse tracking. With reverse tracking, it will also allow for a more impressive, and immersive VR booth experience.

Star wars: Vader Immortal

The Star Wars universe is making its way again to virtual reality (For what it's worth, one of our favorite VR booths is another Star Wars environment, titled Trials of Tatooine) , and to say we are excited is an understatement. The game will be a "yet untold story" and will take place across three episodes, with the story led by Davis S. Goyer, lead writer of the Dark Knight. We can't wait!

Orbusvr Reborn

Orbusvr is the only  VR MMORPG (Massively multiplayer online role-playing game) exclusively for room-scale virtual reality. The application will feature everything we love about an MMO: huge open worlds, dozens of quests, interesting stories and characters - and the ability to interact and play with others. Orbusvr Reborn promises gorgeous hand-painted visuals, new enemies (for those who have played the previous Orbusvr game), and new dungeons (also for those who have played the previous Orbusvr game). We are eager to add this environment to our list of VR booths.

Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs

The popular mobile game is coming to virtual reality! Little is known about the application, but we do know that it will be available early in the new year across all of the major virtual reality platforms. Angry Bird lends itself very well to virtual reality - players can experience the already highly recognizable characters and game-play mechanisms, but in a more immersive and colorful experience.

Whether it's at the beautiful Beaver Creek, or in Miami or Las Vegas - we can't wait to continue bringing our virtual reality booths and VR rentals to events, conferences, and trade shows across the country. We had another exciting year and we are looking forward to 2019!
